IHS Brazil and I-Systems Launch Joint Solutions

November, 7, 2023, São Paulo: IHS Brazil, part of the IHS Holding Limited (NYSE: IHS) (“IHS Towers”) group, one of the largest independent owners, operators, and developers of shared communications infrastructure in the world by tower count, and I-Systems, specialists in shared fiber optic networks have announced, for the first time, a number of joint connectivity solutions that position IHS as a leading InfraCo in Latin America.

With a growing Latin America presence, IHS Brazil offers Colocation, Build-to-Suit (BTS), Small Cells and Inbuilding Solutions known as Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS). These solutions can be applied in rural areas, urban centers, such as airports, shopping malls, highways, tunnels, football stadiums, subways, residential and corporate condominiums, and favela communities.

Aligned with IHS’ portfolio, I-Systems' high-capillarity fiber optic network can be used simultaneously by multiple Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and operators to deliver a more sustainable business model with greater agility, lower cost, fewer cables and increased access to high-quality internet. The new solutions, presented by I-Systems, include neutral fiber optic products and services (FTTP, FTTH, FTTS, FTTB and FTTR – Fiber to the Pole, Home, Site, Business, Room), and Wi-Fi mesh.

Together, IHS Brazil and I-Systems offer solutions tailored to the data demands of 5G, such as Micro Edge Data Centers. Using space available on IHS Brazil sites and in the I-Systems fiber network, compact and modular cabinets are installed closer to end users. This enables faster data processing, reduced latency and an improved user experience, especially critical for latency-sensitive telecommunications services such as Surveillance as a Service.

The companies have also developed Street Level Solutions (SLS), designed from I-Systems' neutral fiber optic network and leveraging IHS Brazil’ engineering expertise to improve coverage in urban environments. These solutions seek to mitigate challenges such as interference, dead signal zones and network congestion from high user density.

IHS Towers Head of Latin America and Senior Vice President of Innovation, Farès Nassar, said: “The market has increasingly realized how convenient it is to rely on the neutral infrastructure we provide. This allows ISPs and regional operators to expand their reach with more agility and reduced cost, dedicating themselves to providing their services, while we take care of all the necessary infrastructure.”

A new feature of SLS is a bench developed by IHS Brazil, I-Systems, Bipar Energia Telecomunicação e Indústria Metalúrgica and Rio de Janeiro City Hall, which houses the equipment for mobile connectivity. The solution serves multiple antennas simultaneously, but without installing additional cabinets.  Similar to IHS Brazil’s solution in Ouro Preto, authorized by IPHAN, the bench enables connectivity while complementing a city’s architectural characteristics. From a technical perspective, it has the same functionalities of traditional equipment and meets the operators' increasing need for network densification and 5G.

Such innovation also exists in other products, including the flowerpot solution.

IHS Brazil and I-Systems are excited to bring these solutions to the Latin America market, and their collaborative approach is designed to better support customers’ connectivity needs.
